As Christmas was fast approaching once again our dentist's were "helping" Father Christmas.

We were open over the holiday period providing emergency treatment for our patients that needed it.

The staff working over this time did a great job both cleaning and tidying.

We also manged to fit in extra training in the decontamination room.
Nurses and receptionists are continually refreshing and updating their knowledge and skills.

We are posting a quick reminder for patients to put their dental appointments into their new diaries. A common reason for missing appointments at the beginning of a New Year,
Finally we would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year

Progress

As a practice we are striving to improve the patient experience often making small changes.

Sometimes bigger changes happen!

We have had our dental therapist room redone and the results are staggering.
Previously the room was small, clutter and a bit claustrophobic.

Thanks to some clever designing from Mckillop Dental we now have a clean, elegant and spacious room. www.mckillopdental.co.uk

And a very happy dental therapist!

Get to know us a little

May we first of all welcome you to Ruthin Dental Practice.  We will be happy to provide you with the dental care you need. This means we will do our best to treat you as an individual and work with you to achieve a healthy and happy smile.

We are a small practice sitting in the pretty market town of Ruthin which lies in the valley through which the River Clwyd. Towering above the town are the beautiful hills of the Clwydian range which is crown by the remains of the Jublilee Tower at the top of Moel Famau.

Moel Famau is the highest of the hills of the Clwydian range and the hill itself and the surrounding park marked as areas of outstanding beauty. The peak of the hill is 1818ft above sea level and is 182 feet short of being a mountain. http://www.moelfamau.co.uk/
Throughout the year the hills change colours depending upon the foliage and the cloud shadows. Its very beautiful.

We have a number of dentists at the practice who work along side our therapists and a hygienist to    provide your dental care.  The practice is owned by Robert Winstanley and Tom Gregg who have both worked at the practice for a number of years. Here's a little bit about them.

Robert Winstanley BDS (Edinburgh) GDC 67808
Robert originally comes from Bolton, Lancashire where his father was also a dentist. After graduating from Edinburgh University in 1992 he worked in several Oral Surgery Hospital Departments in Edinburgh, followed by a Senior House Officer position at the Manchester Royal Infirmary, where his interest in dental implants started.
Robert has been at the Ruthin Dental Practice now over 14 years and for eight years combined this with a clinical post in the Orthodontic Department at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. He now provides orthodontic treatment for patients in the Ruthin and surrounding areas. He has been a Vocational Trainer for 5 years, which involves mentoring newly qualified dentists over their first year following graduation.
He has completed numerous post graduate courses. In 2003 he undertook a year long Dental Implant course under Professor Ucer. This has enabled him to place and restore Dental Implants in the practice in Ruthin for our own patients, and also for patients referred from other dental practices. In 2011, under Dr Paul Tipton, he completed a year long Restorative Dentistry Programme. Robert continues to strive to provide his patients with advanced treatments that modern dentistry has to offer.

Tom Gregg BDS (Bristol) GDC 83449
Tom graduated from Bristol Dental School in 2004 where he was also awarded the class prize for Prosthetics (Dentures). A rural life called and he immediately joined Ruthin Dental Practice to complete his community training (VT) year under the guidance of Robert Winstanley. Tom met his now wife at Dental school and they both live together just outside Ruthin with their 2 young sons.
Tom’s interests in cosmetic dentistry and smile improvement led him to further studies at UCLAN post-graduate dental school where he was awarded their Diploma in Restorative Cosmetic Dentistry in 2011 after several years of studying and completion of a case book which can be viewed in the Practice.
Tom continues to strive to offer patients the best smile they can achieve with the minimum of invasive treatment. He is enrolled on the University of Warwick MSc in Orthodontics and can provide a wide range of orthodontic treatment to move teeth into a better position for you. Treatments from traditional fixed braces to invisible aligners can complement or remove the need to cut the teeth in traditional dental treatments.
Tom is active in the world of dental politics and is currently Chair/Secretary of the North Wales Section of the British Dental Association (our dentist trade union). He also represents North Wales as Vice-Chair of the Welsh General Dental Practice Committee.
